Aubrey Brooks George

Mr. Aubrey Brooks George, 79, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. George was born May 15, 1931, in Stokes County, to the late Fletcher Reid and Georgia Ann Owens George. He was a retired building contractor and a veteran of United States Navy. Mr. George was a member of the Mount Airy Wesleyan Church. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ila Mae Needham George of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Sandy George of Mount Airy; two grandchildren and their spouses, Emily and Levi Goins of Mount Airy and Brooks and Kristi George of Mount Airy; two great-grandchildren, Brison Reid George and Braylen Brooks George; and a sister, Kathleen Marshall of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. George was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Carol George; six sisters, Eunice George, Erna Rogers, Lolene Jackson, Helen Woods, Lucille Vaden, and Frances Carson; and five brothers, Glenn George, Swanson George, Enas George, Roy George, and Coy George. The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 30, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Richard Loman officiating. Interment will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The George family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
