Aubrey Ray Tickle

Mr. Aubrey Ray Tickle, 70, of Mount Airy, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday night, April 14, 2023, from the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home.  Mr. Tickle was born March 21, 1953, in Surry County, the son of the late Hampton Thurman and Vera Beatrice Shelton Tickle.  Aubrey retired as an engineer from Siemens/Westinghouse after 40 years of service.  More than anything, Aubrey loved and wanted to honor God.  He loved his family and serving in the local church.  Aubrey was a self-less man, often doing small, unseen things for others with great intention and joy.  He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna Harold Tickle of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Justin Snell of Birmingham, AL; a son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Dawn Tickle of Mount Airy; six grandchildren, Logan Tickle, Luke Tickle, and Lily Tickle, all of Mount Airy, and Owen Snell, Ethan Snell, and Elliott Snell, all of Birmingham, AL; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Marie and James Kiebler, Dianne Angel, and Rhonda and Jeff “Frog” Puckett, all of Mount Airy; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Thurman Tickle, Jr. and James and Lisa Tickle, all of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Tickle was preceded in death by an infant sister, Gloria Tickle; a sister, Patricia Yvonne Smith; his mother-in-law, Virginia Marshall Harold; and his father-in-law, Douglas Parker Harold.  A service of worship and celebration of Aubrey’s life will be held Friday, April 21, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Union Hill Friends Church, with the Rev. Larry Nivens, the Rev. Ernest Brown, and the Rev. Zane Fishel officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC  27017.
