Audrey Virginia Simpson Wood

Mrs. Audrey Virginia Simpson Wood, 86, of Siloam went to be with her eternal savior on Sunday February 22, 2009 at Central Continuing Care in Mt. Airy. She was born in Surry County on December 7, 1922 to the late Coley McKinley Simpson and Mecie Emma Reynolds Simpson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Henry Wood and two brothers, Rufus Simpson and Wayne Simpson. Mrs. Wood was a member of Pine Hill Friends Meeting and was housewife, mother, grandmother and retired farmer. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Darrel Martin of Dobson; son and daughter-in-law Phillip and Betty Wood of Siloam, grandchildren Barry and Tracy Wood, Heather and Alex Starbuck, Brad Martin, Kara and Brian Harris; great grandchild Logan Wood; sisters and brothers-in-law Estle and Paul Wilson of Ararat, NC, Vernie Johnson of Pilot Mountain, Mildred Wood of Siloam, Bertie and Rev. Wayne DeHart of Beckley W. Va, Gaynell and Rev. Leighton Culler of Mocksville, NC; brother Robert Simpson of Siloam. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday February 24, 2009 at Pine Hill Friends Meeting with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Michael Thames, Rev. Billy Britt, Rev. Leighton Culler and Rev. Wayne DeHart will conduct the services. Her body will remain at Moody-Davis until carried to the Church to lie in state 30 min. before the services. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson on Monday evening from 6 until 8 PM; the family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Pine Hill Friends Meeting Building Fund C/O Rebecca Fulk 766 Quaker Ch. Rd. Siloam, NC 27047. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Central Continuing Care for the love, support and care given to their mother.
