Augusta Ellen "Billie" Carter Jordan

Mrs. Augusta Ellen "Billie" Carter Jordan, 83, of 127 Cherry Point Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Jordan was born August 10, 1923, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Frank Joseph and Olivia Moore Carter. She served our country in the United States Army during World War II. Most importantly, Augusta was a loving and devoted housewife. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Janet Olivia "Janie" Fox of Ararat and Carol Anne and Bill English of Martin, GA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Perry Lee Jordan, Jr. and Kathy Jordan of Danville, VA, and Steven Wayne and Darla Jordan of Dobson; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Frances Carter Shelton of Dobson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Lee Jordan. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 7, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Skyline Memory Gardens. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Thomas Shelton, and military honors will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mount Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, and other times at the home of Steven Wayne and Darla Jordan, 113 Henrietta Lane, Dobson.
