Mr. Austin James Danley, 21 of Mount Airy, passed away at Duke University Hospital on Friday, July 2, 2021 surrounded by his family. Mr. Danley was born on January 10, 2000 in Surry County to the late Elizabeth “Susie” Danley. Austin was an avid Duke’s of Hazzard fan and had the pleasure of meeting the two deputies, Roscoe and Cletus. Left to cherish his memories are his parents, Wesley and Arlene Crotts of Mount Airy; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann Klein and Eric of Ararat, North Carolina, and Melanie Potter and Elijah, Tampa, Florida; his girlfriend, Katie Tate of Mount Airy; nieces and nephews, Kory Martin, Andrew Martin; Avigail Klein, all of Ararat, North Carolina, Rico Reyes, and Nayeli “Ellie” Roque, both of Tampa, Florida; cousins, MaKayla Danley, Breanna Webb, both of Mount Airy, and Sharee Fenstermaker, of Siloam; uncle and aunt, Franklin and Dianna Danley of Mount Airy, grandmother, June Crotts, of Mount Airy. In addition to his mother, Mr. Danley was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Alma Johnson Danley; and a cousin, Corey Danley. The family would like to recognize the donor who donated his heart for Austin, Mr. Duncan Heilder and Duncan’s mother, Beckie Williams and family in Berwick, Pennsylvania. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Duke University Hospital and Cardiology team for their compassion and care given to Austin, especially nurses, Katelyn and Taylor. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Hall and Rev. Jarred Seal officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwater Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 11, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
