Azalea Alyce Worrell Fariss

Mrs. Azalea Alyce Worrell Fariss, age 86 of Tobaccoville, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.  Mrs. Fariss was born April 27, 1937, in Forsyth County to the late Elder Wilber F. Worrell and Beatrice Hamby Worrell.  Azalea was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all that knew her.  Azalea was retired from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System and a member of Worrell Memorial Primitive Baptist Church.  She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Carmen Fariss, and Katrina Belton and husband Keith; a son and daughter-in-law, Alan Fariss and wife Gail; eight grandchildren, Cassandra Hutchens and B.J., Melanie Freeman, D. J. Spillman, Matthew Fariss and Christine, Jason Fariss and Sarah, Katelyn Belton, Kameryn Belton, Kristy Hurst and Steve; eleven great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary Worrell and Sylvia, Gleason Worrell and Kay; along with many nieces and nephews; and a grand dog, Maggie.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fariss was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Thomas Edward Fariss; and a sister and brother-in-law, Sandra Worrell Kimble and James.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday May 24, 2023, at 2:00PM at Worrell Memorial Primitive Baptist Church in Laurel Fork, Virginia with Elder Gleason Worrell, Elder Dan Puckett, and Elder Lewis Vass officiating.  Burial will follow in the Worrell Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday May 23, 2023, from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.  The body will lie-in-state for one hour at the Worrell Memorial Primitive Baptist Church in Laurel Fork, Virginia.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Worrell Memorial Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Alan Fariss, Treasurer, 4800 Warner Road, Pfafftown, NC  27040.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangement.
