Mrs. Barbara Bean Wilmoth, 85, of White Plains, passed away peacefully at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home on Sunday, January 16, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 19, 1936, in Surry County to the late Arnold Daley “A. D.” Bean and Annie Vera Dalton Bean. She was a member of White Plains Friends Meeting. Barbara was a loving mother and grandmother and had a wonderful smile and laugh that would make everyone smile. Barbara is survived by her children, Mark O’Neal (Sharon) of Tobaccoville, and Teresa Smith (Barry) of White Plains; her grandchildren, Jennifer Simmons, Amber Flippen, Chase O’Neal, Zach O’Neal, Eden C. Phillips, and Beverly Sawyers; her great-grandchildren, Zane, Brady, and Dyami Simmons, Anna and Connor Tommy Flippen, Adilynn and Marlee Phillips, Danielle Kaye Sawyers, and Mark Lucas O’Neal; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, Tommy Snow “Poppy” Wilmoth; her son, Gregory Arnold O’Neal; two sisters, Doris Elizabeth Bean Sawyers, and Myrtle Ruth Bean Poindexter; a half-sister, Clara Belle Flinchum; and a half-brother, Leroy Bean. A service of worship and celebration will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at White Plains Friends Meeting, with the Rev. Jacob Flippen and the Rev. Mike Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Wilmoth will lie-in-state on Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at White Plains Friends Meeting. The family would like to give a special thank you to Judy Nations and Michelle Brown. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Barbara may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
