Barbara June Hawks Gentry

Mrs. Barbara June Hawks Gentry, 64, of 74 Rocky Ridge Road, Cana, VA, passed away Tuesday morning, February 14, 2012, at Golden Living Center-Blue Ridge in Galax, VA. Mrs. Gentry was born May 24, 1947, in Carroll County, VA, to the late William Henry Paul and Mary Rozella Cagle Hawks. Surviving are a son and two daughters-in-law, John Adam and Kristie Gentry of King and Jennifer Gentry of Mount Airy; three grandchildren, Charlotte Gentry, Brian Gentry, and Lane Gentry; and two sisters, Ollie Hawks and Shirley Hawks, both of Cana, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gentry was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Gentry; a son, Joseph Gentry; four sisters, Pauline Hawks, Dorothy Edwards, Mildred Rippey, and Hazel Hawks; and five brothers, Billy Hawks, Herman Hawks, Junior Hawks, Burlie Hawks, and Clayton Hawks. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Tony Holder, the Rev. Timothy Hawks, and the Rev. Richard Hawks. Burial will follow in the Marion Family Cemetery in Cana, VA. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
