Mrs. Velma Barbara Martin O’Lague, age 96, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. O’Lague was born in Watsonville, California, December 30, 1928, to the late William Martin and Rachel Coleman Martin. She had many great hobbies that she enjoyed, whether it was reading her favorite book, sewing, knitting, or tending to the garden. Her most prized hobby was spending time with her family. Surviving Mrs. O’Lague are her daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Rackley, Terry and Jerry Myers, Kathy and Gene Smith, Stacey and Scott Webb; grandchildren and their spouses, Scott McKinnon, Steven and Kim Rackley, Megan and Sherry Vylonis, Colette and Dave Stratman, Mark Willey and partner Marissa Lomelli, Brenda and Pat Bayani, Brett and Stephanie O’Lague, Amy and Matt Gorman, Nicholas Webb and fiancé Herbert Goh, Emily Webb; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and a special nephew and his wife, Steve and Suzan Matulich. In addition to her parents, Mrs. O’Lague was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Eugene “Gene” O’Lague; son, Kevin O’Lague; granddaughter, Marla Pavley; grandson, Christopher Pavley; great grandson, Jacob Sales Pavley; sister, Margaret Venturacci; and brother, Don Martin. A celebration of Mrs. O’Lague’s life will be held at a later date in Watsonville, California. The family would like to thank the staff of Ridgecrest Retirement and the staff at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, for all the care and compassion shown during Mrs. O’Lague’s sickness. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Moody’s of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the O’Lague family.
