Barbara Jean Moseley Pruitt

Mrs. Barbara Jean Moseley Pruitt, 85, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday morning, March 26, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mrs. Pruitt was born February 28, 1938, in Surry County, one of four children born to the late Claude Augustus and Essie Etta Belton Moseley.  Barbara retired from Moseley Tax Service after many years of service and was a faithful member of Stewarts Creek Primitive Baptist Church.  She is survived by her daughter, Dana Lynne Pruitt of Pilot Mountain; her nieces and nephews, John and Wanda Simmons of Mooresville, Suzanne and Randy Collins of Mount Airy, Jimmy and Susan Simmons of King, and Randy and Tracy Simmons of Lewisville; and a special caregiver, Robin Smith of Mount Airy.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pruitt was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Carl Pruitt; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Luvenia and Jesse “Bill” Simmons and Edna and Otis Sisk; a brother and sister-in-law, Elder Clayton and Carolene Moseley; and a nephew, Kevin Gillespie.  The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Elder Gary Lowe, Elder Jimmy Joyce, and Elder Rodney Marshall officiating.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Stewarts Creek Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Shannon Mosley, 198 Pepper Mill Lane, Mount Airy, NC  27030.
