Barbara Simmons

Mrs. Barbara Sue Edmonds Simmons, 77, of Mount Airy passed away Monday, May 3, 2021 at Surry Community Health and Rehab in Mount Airy.  She was born in Surry County on August 17, 1943 to the late Herman Elwood Edmonds and Ida Mae Bruner Edmonds.  Mrs. Simmons was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed.  She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Suzette Simmons; grandchildren, Brandon and Claire Simmons, Tiffany and D.J. Easter, and Brittany Gilley; great grandchildren, Tobin, Landree, Ellie, Taegan, Raelynn, and Paxton; sisters, Violet Holder and Peggy Stanley; several nieces and nephews; and a special sister-in-law, Helen Davis.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Billy James Simmons; a son, Mark Anthony Simmons; sister, Ruby Mae Edmonds Tilley; brother, Howard Edmonds; and an infant brother, Charles Thomas Edmonds.  A graveside service will be held Friday, May 7, 2021 at 2:00 PM at The Peoples Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home from 12:30 PM until to leave for the service.   To send flowers to Barbara's family, please visit our floral store.
