Barbara Gale Stevens

Mrs. Barbara Gale Stevens, 58, of 132 Glen Trillium, Fletcher, passed away early Saturday morning, August 31, 2013, at her home. Mrs. Stevens was born February 19, 1955, in Guilford County, the daughter of Mary Laura Chilton Stevens and the late Bobby Guy "Bob" Stevens. Along with her husband, John Brooks, Barbara was the owner and operator of Mill Tek Toll Grinders Inc. in Arden. She is survived by her husband, John Brooks of the home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Zachary S. and Krystyn Brintle of Mount Airy, Andy and Shannon Snow of Wilmington, and Mitchell Snow and his special friend, Kate Collins, of Hendersonville; a granddaughter, Olivia Brintle of Mount Airy; her mother, Mary Laura Chilton Stevens of Mount Airy; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Rebecca L. Stevens of Raleigh, Laura and Charles Sechrist of Martinsville, VA, Sarah Stevens and Edwin Johnson of Mount Airy, and Lisa and Mike Weller of Harrisburg; a brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Cathy Stevens of Mount Airy; a special sister-in-law and caregiver, Susan Furlough of Edenton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by a brother, William Preston "Billy" Stevens. The funeral service will be held Monday, September 2, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Alex L. Martin, Sarah Stevens, and Charles Sechrist officiating. At the request of the family, a private interment will be held at Oakdale Cemetery following the funeral service. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Mary Laura Chilton Stevens, 112 Balto Lane, Mount Airy.
