Barnett Grant King

Mr. Barnett Grant King, age 90 of Mt. Airy, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2007 at his home. Mr. King was born in Carroll County, VA., April 26, 1917 to John and Linda Edwards King. He served our country in the United States Army during WWII, and was retired from Bassett Furniture after more than forty years of service. Mr. King was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as deacon and trustee. Surviving are a daughter, Ann King of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Linda King of Winston-Salem; grandchildren; Deanne Morgan and husband Jay of Winston-Salem; Lisa Anderson and husband Bert of Lake Wylie, SC; two great-granddaughters, Josie Morgan and Ella Morgan; a sister, Forrest Jones of FL; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Claude King of Mt. Airy; John and Joey King of Pilot Mountain; and Marvin and Elaine King of Virginia Mr. King was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Nancy Ila Beamer King; his parents, a sister Frankie Gwynn; and a brother, Bruce King. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Antioch Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Dale Wallace. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 to 7:30 at Moody Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church at 2238 W. Pine St., Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
