Beatrice Towe Draughn

Mrs. Beatrice Towe Draughn, 92, of Mount Ariy, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta. Mrs. Draughn was born February 6, 1917, in Carroll County, VA, to Willie and Sally Payne Towe. She was a loving mother and a homemaker. Surviving are four daughters and two sons-in-law, Betty Draughn of the home, Christine and Garland Pack, Shelvie Cassell, and Ronda and Johnny Parker, all of Mount Airy; a son, Garland Draughn of Mount Airy; eleven grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and special friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Draughn was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Roger Draughn; a son, Gilbert Draughn; a grandson, Kenneth Draughn; four sisters, Daisy Brown, Etta Eagle, Gertrude Poore, and Lydie Towe; and three brothers, Lester Towe, Arnold Towe, and Cisero Towe. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 24, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, by the Rev. Jack Anderson, Dr. Randy H. Edwards, and Dr. Craig Edwards. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home. The family would like to express a special thanks to Diane Collins for her special care given to Mrs. Draughn during her illness.
