Ben Brannock

Mr. Ben Brannock, 71, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at his home. Mr. Brannock was born December 14, 1935, in Surry County, to the late J. Edd Brannock, Sr. and Cynthia Walker Brannock. He retired from Pike Electric Inc. and as a part-time employee of the Mount Airy Fire Department. Mr. Brannock was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Mount Airy and was a devoted leader with the Boy Scouts of America. Ben served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the VFW Post 2019 in Mount Airy. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dot Beasley Brannock of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Jeff Brinkley of Pilot Mountain; a son, Benny Brannock of Mount Airy; five grandchildren, Samuel Brannock and wife, Abby, Sarah Brannock, and Joseph Brannock, all of Mount Airy, and Maggie Brinkley and Mary Kate Brinkley, both of Pilot Mountain; a sister, Patsy Bush of Sarasota, FL; and a brother, J. Ed Brannock, Jr. and wife, Doris, of Raleigh. The funeral service will be held Friday, September 7, 2007, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by Dr. Roger B. Gilbert, and burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mount Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to First Baptist Church, 714 North Main Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030, or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
