Benjamin Frederick "Fred" Patterson

Mr. Benjamin Frederick “Fred” Patterson, age 93, of Dobson, NC passed away on Friday morning June 24, 2016 in Greenville, SC. He was born in Alexander County, NC on October 24, 1922 to the late Arthur Quentin Patterson and the late Venona Crouch Patterson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Virginia Anne Broyhill Patterson, three sisters and two brothers. Mr. Patterson was a graduate of NC State University. He received a BA Degree in Agriculture and was the Soil and Water Conservationist in Surry County with the US Department of Agriculture. He was a member of Dobson First Baptist Church, the Dobson Lions Club and a veteran of the US Army. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Jan Patterson of Taylors, SC, and Mark and Marla Patterson of Shelby, NC; five grandchildren, Hannah Patterson, Jeremy Patterson, Benjamin Patterson, Ryan Bralley, Alexis Patterson; six great-grandchildren, Jeremy Patterson, Etienne Patterson, Mckia Patterson, Eva Patterson, Mason Bralley, Case Bralley; two brothers and a and sister-in-law, Kermit Patterson of Stony Point, NC, and Kenneth and Joyce Patterson of Taylorsville, NC. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Dobson First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Hiddenite, NC. Rev. Cory Honeycutt will conduct the services. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 PM until the time of his service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Dobson First Baptist Church, PO Box 278, Dobson, NC 27017 or to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
