Benjamin Taylor Shniederman

On April 14th, 2023, our son, Benjamin Taylor Shneiderman (age 27) passed away unexpectedly.  He was a loving, caring son, brother, and uncle.  Ben loved to smell fuel rich exhaust and burnt rubber.  A blow- off on a turbo or lobed cam on a big block, cars were predictable but captivating.  Ben took classes honing his skills in welding and body work so he could continue his passion; working on old cars.  He often spoke about owning a shop and doing bodywork, especially on the classics.  There was so much that he wanted to do.  He would engineer a way to try to make any job easier.  Whether it was roofing, plumbing, concrete, electrical, landscape, carpentry or auto-mechanics, Ben was a perfectionist at many skills and could figure out how to accomplish about anything.  Ben had a great heart and had generosity to spare.  He was always willing to help out in whatever needed to be done.  Ben loved his grandmother’s dog, Sadie, and he loved grandpa Gwyn’s old truck that he restored from the ground up.  He rode in the truck in a car seat with father, Amiram at the wheel, finally driving it himself when it was restored.  He also enjoyed fly fishing with his older brother Matt and listening to his brother Jacob playing with his band or playing video games with both of his brothers.  Ben attended Surry Community College where he earned an associate degree in arts and continued his education at Forsyth Tech in bodywork and welding.  He depended on his sister Danielle Carter for help with his studies.  He loved spending time with close friends, going out to eat, playing video games or going to Seth’s dad’s land to target practice and hang out.  He attended Little Mountain Church since birth and always asked about Preacher Bill.  Ben was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Roy and Opal Gwyn, Wayne and Audrey Vernon, paternal grandparents, Elijah and Mickey Shneiderman, Grandpa Murray Cohen and Grandma Jacqule Ralph.  Uncles Edward and Thedford Vernon, baby nephew Edward Thomas Vernon.  Survived by parents Libby (Randall) Vernon, Amiram (Jennifer) Shneiderman, Siblings Matthew (Eve) Vernon, Danielle (Kenric) Carter, and Jacob Shneiderman, Nieces Audrey and Kensten Carter, Nephew Samuel Vernon, and Aunts and Uncles Roger (Donna) Gwyn and Rebecca Shneiderman.  Cousins, Kayla Gwyn and Daniel Shneiderman.  Services will be held at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, North Carolina.  There will be a closed casket visitation Tuesday night from 6-8 pm.  Funeral service Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Watson officiating.  Burial will follow at Little Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Little Mountain Baptist Church’s cemetery fund, 324 Little Mountain Church Rd., Ararat, NC 27007.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
