Benton Roy Butcher

Mr. Benton Roy Butcher, 72, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday evening, September 2, 2023, at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living in Mount Airy.  Mr. Butcher was born January 27, 1951, in Surry County, to the late Curtis and Thelma Butcher.  He had a passion for body car restoration .  Benton was an avid music fan of the famous “Elvis Presley”; he could be found listening to anytime of the day.  When he wasn’t working or listening to Elvis, you could find him fishing, which Benton loved dearly.  Left to cherish Mr. Butcher’s memories is his wife, Bonnie Butcher; three daughters and sons-in-law, Crystal Rutledge and Jeff, Misty Karriker, April Badgett and Brian; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Lynn Gentry and Jim, Penny Lovill, Cookie Martin; brothers, David Morris, Butchie Beverly; stepchildren, Kathy Denton and husband Terry, Tammy Shinault, Jason Shinault.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Butcher was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Butcher; brothers, Johnny McComb, Wade Beverly.  A service of worship and celebration of Benton’s life will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, with the Rev. John Kinder officiating.  Family will receive friends Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 1 PM until the time of the service.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Butcher family.
