Mr. Berle Andrew "Andy" Ayers, 69, of 132 Bray Ford Road, Dobson, passed away Saturday morning, April 16, 2011, at his home. Mr. Ayers was born September 10, 1941, in Surry County, son of the late Elmer Louis Ayers, Sr. and Hilma Amelia Horn Ayers. Andy served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired as an auto body repairman from S and N Body Shop in Quincy, IL, and was a member of Faith Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Hays Watts Ayers of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael A. and Sandra Ayers of Mount Airy, and Wayne W. and Connie Watts and William W. and Penny Watts, all of Lexington; a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Todd Doby of Denton; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister, Carol Ann Ayers of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Roger Lewis and Chris Ayers of Mount Airy; eight special sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ayers was preceded in death by an infant son, Joe Watts; and a brother, Elmer Louis "E.J." Ayers, Jr. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randy Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church.
