Bernard Dillard Bowman

Mr. Bernard “Dillard” Bowman, 82 of Ararat Virginia passed away, Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center.  Mr. Bowman was born in Patrick County, Virginia on December 2, 1938 to the late William Harden and Laura Myrtle Lewis Bowman.  Mr. Bowman was known to some as Matt and was there to help anyone that needed help.  Left to cherish his memories are his sons, Bryant Gregory Bowman and Bernard Jackson Bowman; grandchildren, Candace Bowman Hernandez, Kayla Bowman, Heather Bowman, Tyler Bowman, Meagan Bowman, Austin Bowman and Nicholas Bowman, thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Christine Bowman, Wyona and Edd Scott, Wanda and Roger Holt and Joan and Ricky Holt; brother and sister-in-law, Garland and Joyce Bowman; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Philisha and G.J. Strickland; along with his fur baby, Pepper.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by a son, James Harden Bowman; and a brother, Donald Gray Bowman.  A graveside service will be held Monday, January 18, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Lewis Family Cemetery located in Vesta, Virginia, with Pastor Kelly Haynes and Rev. Arils Thomas officiating.  Moody Funeral Services of Mount Airy is serving the family.
