Bernard "Mickey" Mitchell Wright, Jr.

Mr. Bernard Mitchell “Mickey” Wright, Jr., 74, of Mt. Airy, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center, Tuesday, September 7, 2021. He was born in Patrick County, VA, May 7, 1947, to the late Bernard Mitchell Wright, Sr. and Melba Hutchens Wright. Mr. Wright retired as a truck driver after 54 years. He enjoyed helping his grandchildren with landscaping, working with the cattle, and cutting hay. He was known as a hard worker, but never too busy to share time with his family, grilling outside or cooking for them. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter and son-in-law, Missie and Mark Lowry; sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Teresa Wright, and Mitchell and Kim Wright; grandchildren and spouses, Jordan Wright, Jennifer and Dusty Marshall, Alexandria Lowry, Aubrianna and Matt Amos, Toliver and Whitney Wright, Tullie Wright, Gavin Wright; great grandchildren, Mirabella and Casen; and his sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Brent Tilley; the mother of his children Ramona Wright; and a special friend Jan Tickle. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wright was preceded in death by a brother Gary William Wright. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Craig Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors by the VFW Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436.
