Bernell Ward Holder

Mrs. Bernell Ward Holder, 84, of Mt. Airy, passed away at Yadkin Valley Senior Living, Tuesday, June 14, 2022.  She was born in Carroll County, VA, April 7, 1938, to the late Burt C. and Della Mae Bobbitt Ward.  Mrs. Holder loved her family and relished the time she spent with them.  She enjoyed bowling, yard sales and helping her granddaughter at Poppy’s.  Mrs. Holder is survived by her husband of 66 years, Raymond Holder; two daughters Beverly Watson (Rodney Pruitt), Brenda Bourne both of Mt. Airy; her beloved granddaughter Melissa Johnson (Grayson Sawyers) of Mt. Airy; a special granddaughter Jaclyn Hall of Miami, FL; a sister-in-law, Eunice Ward of Lambsburg; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Allyni and Landon Strickland, Amber and Tiffany Ellis, Crystal Griffith, Erica Parker, Kendall Welch, Danielle Flemming, Megan Underwood, and Christy Bouldin.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Holder was preceded in death by her sisters, Alice Mae Ward, Dorothy Taylor, and Kathleen Hawks; an infant brother, and brother Ralph Ward; a niece Jenny Hawks, and a nephew Mike Taylor.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 17, 2022, at Holy Cross Baptist Church with Rev. Butch Holder and Sam Holder officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Missionary Baptist Church, 344 York Road, Mt.
