Bertha "Granny" Alice Gwyn Stevens

Mrs. Bertha Alice Gwyn Stevens, age 95 of Mount Airy, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Stevens was born in Carroll County, Virginia on November 8, 1928, to the late Andrew and Rose Gwyn.  Bertha was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and retired from Perry Manufacturing.  Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Darlene Stevens Goins and Dale, and Irene “Sis” Stevens and fiance Charles Goins; two sons, Lewis Stevens and Donnie Stevens; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; and several other family and friends.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Stevens, daughter, Kathleen Stevens; two sons, Robert Stanley “Buster” Stevens and Junior Lee Stevens; two grandsons, John Junior Stevens and Shane Stevens; three sisters, Novella Mae Inman, Beulah Linville Gates, and Dorothy Mae Easter; and her brother, John Wesley “JW” Gwyn.  Graveside services for Granny will be held on Tuesday February 27 , 2024, at 11:00am in the Stevens Family Cemetery in Mount Airy with Mr. Gray Knott officiating.   No formal visitation will be held.   Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
