Bertha Golding Mobley

Ms. Bertha Golding Mobley, 88, of Sykesville, MD, formely of Carroll County, VA, and Mount Airy, NC, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009. Ms. Mobley was born January 20, 1921, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Squire Franklin and Martha Elizabeth Carson Golding. She retired from the AmVets, where she performed clerical work, and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Sylvia Jacobs of Eldersburg, MD, and Nancy Carol Calvagna and Sal of Holbrook, NY; a son, Ernie Lee Mobley of Chambersburg, PA; two grandsons, R.J. Jacobs of Baltimore, MD, and Salvatore Anthony Calvagna of Holbrook, NY; and two sisters, Ruth Barker and Ida Shelton, both of Toast, NC. In addition to her parents, Ms. Mobley was preceded in death by three sisters, Maude Edwards, Fannie McKinney, and Mamie Ramey; and four brothers, Emmett Golding, Ralph Golding, Reuben Golding, and Harvey Golding. The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 20, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. Burial will follow in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
