Bertha Marie Norman Poteat

Mrs. Bertha Marie Norman Poteat, age 92, of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at her daughter’s home. Mrs. Poteat was born in Carroll County on March 4, 1925, to Sheridan and Doskie Pruitt Ayers. Left to cherish her sweet memory is her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Delmar Willard; step-son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Pat Poteat; grandchildren, Penny Willard, Rodney and Sharon Willard, Mike Willard, Tammy and Glenn Burchette, Greg and Shannon Norman, and Barbie and Steve Coates; step-grandchildren, Chad and Alaine Poteat, Alison Poteat, and Nikki and Jason Marion; 21 great-grandchildren; 4 step great-grandchildren; 21 great great-grandchildren; sisters, Daphne King and Alene Covington; a very special nephew, Roy Edwards; and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Poteat was preceded in death by a son, Lindsay Norman; a granddaughter, Lynette Miller; a great-granddaughter, Lynsey Miller; her husband, Tollie Poteat; sisters, Ernestine Edwards and Norma Boyles; and a brother, Phillip Henry Ayers. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 18, 2018, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jimmy McCraw. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Garden. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.
