Mrs. Bertie Mae Hicks Hall, 89, of Mount Airy, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 30, 2019.  Mrs. Hall was born September 19, 1930, in Surry County, one of nine children born to the late Wiley and Maude Watson Hicks.  She was married to Alfred Clark “Lefty” Hall for 67 years, until his death in 2015.  Mrs. Hall passed away on what would have been their 71st wedding anniversary.  Bertie was a faithful member of Dobson Church of Christ as long as her health permitted.  Left to cherish her memories are a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Jerry Bauguess of East Bend; a daughter-in-law, Hilda Hall of Dobson; her grandchildren, Beth Welch and her husband, David, of Mount Airy, Christi Deaton and her husband, Travis, of Thomasville, Matthew Hall of Dobson, and Jordan Bauguess of East Bend; her great-grandchildren, Luke Welch and Mackenzie Welch, both of Mount Airy, and Ollie Mae Deaton of Thomasville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Iola and Richard Bullis and Gladys and Bobby Wilson, all of Mount Airy; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Hicks Gwyn and Leona Hicks, both of Mount Airy; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her son, Gary Hall; a sister, Verlie Hicks Hill; and five brothers, Leonard Hicks, Coney Hicks, Norris Hicks, Herman Hicks, and Ira Hicks.  The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 3, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Dobson Church of Christ, with Brother Ralph Sproles and Eddy Beasley officiating.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:45 until 1:45 PM at the church.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Dobson Church of Christ Building Fund, 165 Dobson Church of Christ Road, Dobson, NC  27017.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
