Bessie Hiatt McHone

Ms. Bessie Hiatt McHone, 90, of 2026 North Main Street, Mount Airy, went home to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday morning, April 20, 2010, from the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Ms. McHone was born October 10, 1919, in Carroll County, VA, daughter of the late Ruff and Saloma Ila Shadrick Hiatt. She retired from Mount Airy Furniture Company and was a member of the Baptist faith. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Ann and Michael Weatherman of Mount Airy; a son, Delbert Wayne McHone of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Christopher Martin and his wife, Heather, Ashley Elizabeth Easter, and Jacob McHone, all of Mount Airy, and Crystal McHone of Cana, VA; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Ms. McHone was preceded in death by a sister, Hester Haynes; and two brothers, Climate "Creeper" Hiatt and Simon Joe Hiatt. The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 22, 2010, at 3:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Dennis Bledsoe and the Rev. Todd Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in the Willow Hill Moravian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Patricia Ann and Michael Weatherman, 397 Dusty Lane, Mount Airy.
