Bessie Mills

Mrs. Bessie Parker Mills, 86, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, February 26, 2021, at Northern Regional Hospital.  Mrs. Mills was born April 24, 1934, in Surry County, the daughter of the late James Henry and Minnie Slate Parker.  She retired from Spencer’s Inc., and she worked as a CNA after her retirement.  She was a member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church.  Surviving are her sons, Charles “Chuck” Inscore, Kenneth Inscore and his wife, Abreena, and Scott Tracy Inscore and his wife, Penny; and her grandchildren, Jessica Harpe and her husband, Joe, Greyson Inscore and his wife, Marissa, and Derrick Dean.  Also surviving are several great-grandchildren, including a very special great-grandson, C.J. Inscore; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Monroe Mills; a grandson, Corie Inscore; two sisters, Joyce Mills and Ethel Phillips; and four brothers, Grover Parker, Jonathan Parker, Herbert Parker, and Herman Parker.  A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, 651 South South Street, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Mills family.
