Beth Ellen Worrell Bowman

Ms. Beth Ellen Worrell Bowman, 43, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, October 14, 2022, at Atrium Health – Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.  She was born March 13, 1979, in Surry County, to Michael Lee and Debbie Edmonds Worrell.  Beth graduated from Gardner-Webb University in 2002, and she had worked towards her master’s degree at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.  She had worked as an unemployment agent at North Carolina Works and had been a social worker.  Beth also helped with Special Friends of Youth and Surry Friends of Youth, and she had a lifelong connection with her clients.  She loved her family and was loved by everyone that knew her.  Beth is survived by her children, Emma Grace Bowman, William Michael “Will” Bowman, and Bennett Lee “Ben” Bowman, all of Mount Airy; her parents, Michael Lee and Debbie Edmonds Worrell of Mount Airy; her sister, Amy Shough and her husband, Kevin, of Mount Airy; two nieces, Madilyn Shough and Ireland Shough, both of Mount Airy; the father of her children, Benny Bowman of Mount Airy; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Ms. Bowman was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alva Lee and Jacqueline Worrell and William Wade and Opal Edmonds.  The funeral service will be held Friday, October 21, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Pastor Anthony Thomas officiating.  Burial will follow in the Woodville Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Friday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.  The family requests that you please wear a mask for the visitation and service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Beth Bowman Trust Fund, 308 Holly Hill Drive, Mount Airy, NC  27030.
