Mrs. Elizabeth Lorraine "Bette" Dearmin Davis, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Northern Hospital of Surry County after a short illness. Mrs. Davis was born December 8, 1927, in Surry County, the youngest child of the late Thomas Yancey and Martha Gilbert Dearmin. Bette was a longtime business woman, owning and operating Tom Davis Office Products along with her late husband. She was a church leader at Grace Moravian Church. Surviving are two sons, Yancey Davis of Fairview and John Davis of Greensboro; three grandchildren, Josh Davis of Mount Airy, and Ashley Davis and Thomas Davis, both of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Davis; two sisters, Jane Dearmin Bryant and Ruth Dearmin Matthews; and two brothers, Buck Dearmin and Dallas G. Dearmin. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Tony Hayworth officiating. Burial will follow in God's Acre. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Moravian Church, 1401 North Main Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030 or to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
