Bette Dearmin Davis

Mrs. Elizabeth Lorraine "Bette" Dearmin Davis, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Northern Hospital of Surry County after a short illness. Mrs. Davis was born December 8, 1927, in Surry County, the youngest child of the late Thomas Yancey and Martha Gilbert Dearmin. Bette was a longtime business woman, owning and operating Tom Davis Office Products along with her late husband. She was a church leader at Grace Moravian Church. Surviving are two sons, Yancey Davis of Fairview and John Davis of Greensboro; three grandchildren, Josh Davis of Mount Airy, and Ashley Davis and Thomas Davis, both of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Davis; two sisters, Jane Dearmin Bryant and Ruth Dearmin Matthews; and two brothers, Buck Dearmin and Dallas G. Dearmin. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Tony Hayworth officiating. Burial will follow in God's Acre. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
