Mrs. Bettie Puckett Hill, 92, of 145 Terri Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Sunday night, June 6, 2010, at Golden Living Center. Mrs. Hill was born March 20, 1918, in Surry County, one of fourteen children born to the late William Hasten and Lena Davis Puckett. She retired from Perry Manufacturing Company and was a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Hill Parker of Mount Airy; two granddaughters and their spouses, Annette and Charles Collins of Galax, VA, and Judy and Mike Payne of Mount Airy; six great-grandchildren, Pierce Collins, Amelia Collins, and Parker Collins, all of Galax, VA, and Hannah Payne, Brady Payne, and Dylan Payne, all of Mount Airy; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Lou Collins of Lowgap, Barbara Cook of King, and Frances and the Rev. Bill Watson of Ararat; five sisters-in-law, Connie Puckett, Mary Beamer, Myrtle Wagoner, and Mable Hill, all of Mount Airy, and Melba Puckett of Lowgap; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Moore "Will" Hill; a son-in-law, Arless Parker; four sisters, Lizzie Jones, Annabelle Puckett, Maude Senter, and Ella Mae "Polly" Puckett; and six brothers, John Puckett, Bill Puckett, Jake Puckett, Claude "Bud" Puckett, Roger Puckett, and James Monroe Puckett. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. J. Cecil Hill and the Rev. Bill Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Joyce Hill Parker, 1017 Fowler Road, Mount Airy.
