Bettie Mae Martin Clifton

Mrs. Bettie Mae Martin Clifton, age 95 of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday February 18, 2025, at Northern Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit. She was born November 25, 1929, in Surry County to the late Prather Lee and Sinda Martin. She was a member of Shining Light Baptist Church and a retired hairdresser. She grew up in the Round Peak community and loved old time music and spending time with family and friends. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Janet Clifton of Lowgap, grandchildren, Wesley Clifton and Crystal Penton, and Lee and Sheena Clifton, a great granddaughter, Madeline “Maddy” Leeann Clifton; and several other family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Clifton was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Verlen Conduff Clifton; son, Larry Conduff Clifton; sister, Elvie Marie Martin Amburn; and two brothers, William Carl Martin and Ross Martin. Funeral services will be Monday February 24, 2025, at 2:00pm in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Elmo Hiatt officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday at Moody’s from 12:30 – 2:00pm. The family would like to thank the staff in the Skilled Unit at Northern Regional Hospital for all of the wonderful care given to Bettie during her stay. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
