Mrs. Betty Sue Jarrell Ayers, 72, of 185 Terri Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2006, at her home. Mrs. Ayers was born November 4, 1934, in Davidson County, to the late Pete and Josephine Boyd Jarrell. She retired from Brown-Wooten Hosiery in 1999. Mrs. Ayers was a member of the ladies auxiliary of VFW Post 2019 of Mount Airy and was a member of its color guard. She was also a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member of the choir. She is survived by her husband, Elmer Joe "Buck" Ayers of the home; three daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon and Mark O'Neal and Linda Leftwich, all of Mount Airy, and Susan Money of Pilot Mountain; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ricky Ayers of Winston-Salem and Randy and Susan Ayers of Pilot Mountain; eight grandchildren, Josh Leftwich, Casey Leftwich, Jennifer Simmons, Chase O'Neal, Travis Ayers, Heather Ayers, Zach Essick, and Chad Essick; three great grandchildren, Zane Simmons, Brady Simmons, and Kelsey Leftwich; two sisters, Marie Ross of Greensboro and Louise Yoder of Rowlett, TX; a brother, Don Jarrell of Mount Airy; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Belle Jarrell; and a brother, Richard Jarrell. The funeral arrangements are incomplete and her body rest at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
