Ms. Betty Jean Brindle Stanley, age 84, of Dobson, NC, passed away at Northern Regional Hospital, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, August 27, 2023. She was born in Surry County to the late Charlie Walter Brindle and Evie Ellen Norman Brindle. Betty worked for many years at Central Care as a CNA and also as a seamstress at Tultex until she retired. She was a proud volunteer for the Hosts Program at Central Middle School where she was given multiple awards for her commitment to the program. After retirement, Betty enjoyed spending moments with her family, but took special pride in her grandchildren. She was a dedicated member at Snow Hill Baptist Church and always had a smile on her face. Later in life, Betty enjoyed her time at Central Continuing Care and looked forward to her daily activities, particularly Bingo.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lorena Jester; a brother, Charlie Brindle, Jr. and a daughter-in-law, Robin Stanley. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Jarrell and Steve Surratt, Denna and Todd Thompson, Dianna and Chris Riggans; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Darlene Stanley; thirteen grandchildren, Tina (Charlie) Sechrist, Aaron Haynes, Keith (Tisha) Jarrell, Erika (Scott) Richardson, Jake (Laura) Thompson, Josh (Kerri) Stanley, Jeremiah (Lexi) Riggans, Leigha (Logan) Stanley, Maggie (Jordan) O’neal, Emilee (Dylan) Davis, Bailee (Shane) Hutchens, Ethan Mayes, Landon Holt; twenty great-grandchildren, Callah (Josh) Isley, Emily, Amanda, Ian, Nathan, Mason, and Sam Sechrist, Jaron Haynes, Brylee and Dexter Jarrell, Elliot and Jace Richardson, Hunter, Charley, and Jackson Thompson, Hadley and Dean Stanley, soon-to-be great granddaughter, Lorna Jane O’neal, Emory Hyatt, Aiden Quesenberry; three great-great-grandchildren, Boone and Magnolia Isley, Oaklynn Bowles; sisters and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Walter Hogge and Kay Brindle Newman; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred Brindle and Lucille Riggans, Billy and Linda Brindle, Robert and Brenda Brindle; a special niece and nephew, Misty and Riley Hamrick. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Snow Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Johnson and Rev. Thomas Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made in her honor to: Central Continuing Care, Activities Dept, 1287 Newsome Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
