Betty Jean Burkhart

Mrs. Betty Jean Burkhart, 75 of Mt. Airy passed away at her home Tuesday, December 15, 2015. She was born in Surry County on September 4, 1940 to the late Victor James and Jodie Violet Goins Burkhart. Mrs. Burkhart a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Friel Austin Burkhart; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Larry Padgett; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Candy Burkhart, Marty and Holly Burkhart; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy Johnson, Jettie and Michael Epperson, Pansy Sechrist, Judy and Roger Gwyn; a brother, James Burkhart; many nieces and nephews; a special friend, Bonnie Collins. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burkhart was preceded in death by a son, Mark Ray Burkhart. Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Slate Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 AM until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
