Betty Jo Burton

Mrs. Betty Jo Greenwood Burton, age 79, of Elkin, passed away Friday, April 3, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 13, 1940, in Surry County to the late Clarence Winford Greenwood and Mattie Vetra Wilcoxsen Greenwood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Beth Norman. She is survived by her husband, Alfred Burton; sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Jeanne Burton and Chuck and Kimberly Burton; grandchildren, Anna Burton, Kayla Burton, Emma Burton, and Wyatt Burton; four special nieces, brother, and sister-in-law, C.W. and Jo Ann Greenwood and brother-in-law Charles Norman. Betty was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and a devout member of Union Cross Baptist Church. All services will be private, with public celebration of Betty’s life at a later date. The family has requested no flowers at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Cross Baptist Church, 2034 Twin Oaks Road, Elkin, NC 28621.
