Betty Jean Bowman Combs

Mrs. Betty Jean Bowman Combs, 84, of King, passed away Sunday morning, December 25, 2016, at her home. Mrs. Combs was born on March 18, 1932 in Surry County to the late James Tyrie Bowman and Maggie May Felts Bowman. Mrs. Combs was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by all that knew her. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles Edward "Eddie" Combs, Jr. and Debbie of King; six grandchildren, Justin Combs and Danielle of Rural Hall, Brandon Combs of King, Whitney Combs of King, Nathan Combs-Peele and Justin of Raleigh, Babette Mabe of Winston Salem, and Courtney Seperack of Winston Salem; seven great-grandchildren; Erin Combs, Logann Combs, Sarah Combs, Rhiley Mabe, Rhaegan Mabe, Hudson Combs and Bennett Combs; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Irene Collins of Mount Airy, and Pansy Chaney and Arthur of Mount Airy; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Everette Bowman and Cindy of Winston Salem, Lyrine Bowman of Mount Airy, and Dennis “Chipper” Bowman and Robbie of Winston Salem; a sister-in-law, Brenda Bowman; and a brother-in-law, Albert Nichols. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Combs was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Combs, Sr.; two daughters, Rhonda Jean Combs and Bridget Seperack; a son, James Ellis Combs; two brothers, James Bowman and Cecil Bowman; and a sister, Mary Etta Nichols. Graveside services will be held on Friday December 30, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Garden with the Rev. Brian Beverly officiating. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home on Thursday night, December 29, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00PM. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and to her special caregivers, Kathy Bowman, Ann Whitaker, and Karen Martin.
