Betty Jo Croom Owens

Mrs. Betty Jo Croom Owens, age 64, of Stuart, Virginia, formerly of Hampton, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina. She was born in Lenoir County, North Carolina on June 14, 1959, to the late James Allen Croom and Josie Irene Bell Croom. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray Owens; two brothers, Billy Ray David, Joseph Eugene David; and one sister, Joyce Nadine David. Mrs. Owens was a very loving, giving, and caring woman. She will always be remembered for her generosity in so many endeavors. She loved her dogs and spending time by the river with her family, especially her grandkids. Above all, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Betty will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish the sweet memories of Mrs. Betty Owens are her four children, Holly Lynn Bautista (Sandro) of Kinston, North Carolina, Charles Edward Dodgson (Kara) of Stuart, Virginia, Amanda Nicole Nance (Denver) of Sandy Ridge, North Carolina, Michael Morris (Catherine) of Fayetteville, North Carolina; twelve grandchildren, Sienna Stallings, MaKayla Stallings, LLuvia Bautista, Allen Bautista, Mackenzie Nance, Logan Nance, Jesse Ray Nance, Abbigail Nance, Isabell Nance, Austin Nance, Landon Nance, Athena Morris; two sisters, Carolyn Beaman of Snow Hill, North Carolina, Peggy Sue Holder of Kinston, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; two very special friends, Karol Mabe of Sandy Ridge, North Carolina, and Uncle Willie of Hampton, Virginia.

A private Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mrs. Betty Owens will be held at Jesus Saves Baptist Church with Denver Nance officiating.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017.
