Mrs. Betty Mae DeHart Greenwale, age 90 of Eden, North Carolina passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 6, 2025. She was born in Rockingham County, NC to the late Leonard Charles DeHart and Maysie Rea Watts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse James Greenwale; one daughter, Pattie Edmond; one granddaughter Tracy McAdams; two great-grandchildren, Morella and Bradley Flint; one sister, Mary Doss; and four brothers, J.M. DeHart, Charlie DeHart, Harold DeHart, and Earl Shelor. Mrs. Greenwale proudly and faithfully served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. She retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company with many years of service. She was the second woman licensed as a machinist in North Carolina. Betty enjoyed walking through the mountains and loved her family dearly. Her family meant the world to her.

Mrs. Greenwale is survived by her three children, Bill Greenwale (Doris) of Patrick Springs, VA, Susan Greenwale (Bob) of Eden, NC, and James Greenwale (Linda) of Patrick Springs, VA; eight grandchildren, Varian Greenwale (Jennifer), Robin Davis, Melissa West, Allison Edmond, Hunter Edmond, Jessica Flint, Jennifer Greenwale (John), and Amanda Craig (Lee); twenty-two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is assisting the family and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
