Betty Jean Hawks

Miss Betty Jean Hawks, 45, of 174 Watershed Road, Lowgap, passed away Saturday morning, April 4, 2009. Miss Hawks was born August 19, 1963, in Surry County, to the late Walter Raleigh and Barbara Frances Martin Hawks. She was a homemaker and formerly employed at Parkway Knitting Company. She is survived by a son, Rocky Hawks of Cana, VA; a daughter, Nikki Hawks of Cana, VA; two grandchildren, Christian Grady Lee Tate and Savannah Marshall; her fiance, Howard Orrell of Lowgap; a sister and brother-in-law, Janet Lee and Larry Ray Hawks of Lowgap; a brother, James Lee Hawks of Cana, VA; and several nieces and nephews, Emily Bree Hawks, Jared James Hawks, Jason Hawks, Chelsea Cagle, Brent Tyler Hawks, Joshua Lee Hawks, Jessie James Hawks, and Bradley Ray Hawks. In addition to her parents, Miss Hawks was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Ann Hawks; a niece, Brandy Hawks; and a special friend, Litha Melinda Jones Cagle. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Fancy Gap Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Richard Hawks officiating. Burial will follow in the Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Fancy Gap Pentecostal Holiness Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Moody Funeral Services, P.O. Box 1288, Mount Airy, NC 27030, to help defray the funeral expenses.
