Mrs. Betty Doris Elkins Haynes age 77 of 152 Lynn Rd. Mt. Airy, NC, widow of Mr. Raymond Oscar Haynes passed away Wednesday December 12, 2007 at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. Mrs. Haynes was born May 14, 1930 in York County, SC to the late George Washington and Jennie Elizabeth Shugart Elkins, she was retired from Spencer's Corporation after 46 years of service and was a member of the Shelton Church of the Brethren. Surviving are one daughter Jeanne Tucker of Knoxville, TN, one son and daughter-in-law Jewal and Ann Haynes of Hickory, NC, two grandchildren Jonathan Haynes and wife Lyvonda of Mt. Airy and Meredith Haynes of Raleigh, two sisters Gillie Jones of Rock Hill, SC and Cammie Blackwell of York, SC. and by a special nephew John Haynes and wife Barbara and there children Belton, James and Beth. In addition to her husband and parents Mrs. Haynes was preceded in death by five sisters and six brothers. Funeral services will held Saturday December 15, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at the Shelton Church of the Brethren, with services conducted by Rev. Hal Somerfrank, Mr. Kenneth Hollingsworth and Rev. Steve Clark with burial to follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday night 7 to 9 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, NC. where her body will remain until time to be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes before the service.
