Betty Jo Wilson Hooker

Mrs. Betty Jo Wilson Hooker, 89, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday afternoon, March 28, 2025, at Northern Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit. Mrs. Hooker was born June 25, 1935, in Surry County, to the late Bernie Elmer and Ruby Ethel Hall Wilson. Betty attended Westfield High School, where she met the love of her life, Anslie Lester Hooker. After Anslie returned from the military, they were united in marriage in April 1955. Betty dedicated 40 years of service to the hosiery mills industry, retiring from Hanesbrands. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed a life full of love and service to her family and community. She was devoted to caring for her loved ones, visiting the sick and shut-ins, reading, working on puzzles, and attending church. Betty was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church, where she participated in various church functions and groups and faithfully attended Wednesday night Bible study. She was also a cherished member of the Mountain Valley Hospice Choir. Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Joe Beck; and several nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Priscilla Lawson, Susan Manual, and Vicky Inman, and a special nephew, Grant Caudle. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hooker was preceded in death by a sister, Mycleta Wilson Caudle; a niece, Donna Creed; and her special fur baby, Mandy. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Dr. Jon Cawley and the Rev. Rusty Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. At other times, the family welcomes friends to the home of Pamela and Joe Beck. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love, care, and compassion shown by the staff at Northern Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit and the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
