Betty Jones

Mrs. Betty Pruitt Jones, age 79 of Stuart, Virginia went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home.  She was born in Patrick County, to the late Posey Pruitt and Minnie Overby Pruitt.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Rachel P. Inman, Gracie P. Parrish, and Shirley Pruitt; three brothers, Clarence Pruitt, David Pruitt, and Lester Pruitt; one sister-in-law, Lucille Pruitt; six brothers-in-law, Junior Parrish and John Inman, Herbert Jones, Billy Jones, Lester Jones, Press Holt; and one special nephew, J.C. Parrish. Mrs. Jones was a faithful member of Hills Grove Baptist Church and loved her church and community. She had retired from the Elastic Plant with over 40 years of service. Betty was a true example of the Proverbs 31 Virtuous Woman; she had a servant’s heart that would do anything to help others; she enjoyed fixing food and feeding people.  She took great joy in her family, she especially loved being Granny Betty to her grandchildren.          Mrs. Jones is survived by her devoted husband of sixty-four years, William “Jesse” Jones; two children, Debbie Cook (Marty) and Donnie Jones (Peggy); three grandchildren, Matthew Jones (Emily), Kacey Latham (Josh), and Kelly Parker (Shane); six step-grandchildren, Josh Potts (Amber), Jonathan Cook (Alyson), Robbie Cook (Stephanie), Colt Fain, Kurt Fain (Katie), and Allison Jeffries (Jody); eight great grandchildren, Landon Jesse Easter, Kloey Noelle Easter, Lilith Quinn Parker, Nova Kenzington Parker, Mia Jane Katherine Parker, Parker Ryan Jones, Carter Owen Jones, and Tucker Levi Jones; seven step-great-grandchild, Candice Fugua, Austin Latham, Alyssa Latham, Josh Latham, Jackson Latham, Teagan Potts, and Atlas Potts; five sisters-in-law, Lou Biggs (Grandy), Lois King (Gilmore), Bertha Goins, Minnie Mae Jones, and Linda Jones; and several special nieces and nephews and many special friends.          Funeral services for Mrs. Jones will be held Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Hills Grove Baptist Church in Claudville with Pastors Ricky Rogers, Alan Vass and Eli Roberson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hills Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Friends are welcome at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart on Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. to pay their final respects.
