Betty Lorraine Lane

        Mrs. Betty Lane, age 75 of Stuart, Virginia passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 06, 2019.  She was born in Virginia on July 11, 1943 to the late Charles Alfred Dalton and Mamie Katherine Smith Dalton.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Maurice “Whitey” Lane; one grandson, Joshua Tyler Lane; and one sister, Martha Frances Dalton Casey.  Mrs. Lane was a member of True Gospel Baptist Church.  She enjoyed crocheting and made afghans for hospice.  She will be remembered for how she loved her church family and family.

        Mrs. Lane is survived by one daughter, Maryln Johnson and husband, Craig of Mount Airy, North Carolina; one son, James Maurice “Jimmy” Lane, Jr and wife, Molly of Martinsville, Virginia; four grandchildren, Aaron Worley, Jennifer DeCosta, Renae Kendrick, and Rick Lane; three great grandchildren, Alyvia DeCosta, Carlos Kendrick, and Alicia Garcia; four sisters, Gloria Bowman and Reva Pierce and husband Jimmy, both of Claudville, Connie Lamb of Albertville, Alabama and Violet “Tina” Abbott of Mount Airy, North Carolina; one brother, Charles Dalton of Meadows of Dan, Virginia; two half-sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

        Funeral services for Mrs. Lane will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastors Mark Wright and J.R. Shelton officiating.  Burial will follow in True Gospel Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral service on Thursday afternoon.  Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
