Mrs. Betty Sue Coon Moser, 63, of Mount Airy, passed away early Saturday morning, December 3, 2016, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Moser was born September 23, 1953, in Surry County, one of three children born to the late Oscar Monroe “Pete” and Nannie Lou Heath Coon. Betty was a programs coordinator for Mount Airy Parks and Recreation for many years and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Jerry Lee Moser of the home; a daughter, Penny Johnson Warren of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Beverly Johnson of Dobson; three grandchildren, Garrett Franklin Johnson and Abigail Grace Johnson, both of Dobson, and Laken Brooke Warren of Mount Airy; a brother, Billy Coon of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moser was preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Gail Johnson; and a brother, Pete Coon. The funeral service will be held Monday, December 5, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Trent Lyons officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
