Betty Jo Potts

Mrs. Betty Jo McHone Potts, 77, of Mt. Airy, NC, passed away at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital, Monday, December 9, 2019.  She was born Surry County on January 6, 1942 to the late Grayson and Ocie Marie Reece McHone.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  Mrs. Potts retired from Pine State Knitwear after many years of service.  She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Eddie Simmons, son-in-law, Ronnie Hawks; son and daughter-in-law, Gray and Teresa Potts; grandchildren, Blake Simmons wife Brittany, Chancey Simmons and fiancée Zeb Ethier, Amy Hawks and her fiance, Wesley Taylor, Toby Potts, Bella Potts, and Jonathan Gardner; great-grandchildren, Carter, Cam, Cace and Brooklynn; sisters and brothers-in-law, Daisy and James Edwards, Martha and Melvin Whitaker and Norma McHone; and a brother, Wayne McHone.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Potts was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Potts; a daughter, Sandra Hawks; a granddaughter, Baily Potts; and brothers, Richard Forrest and C.G. McHone.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Edwards officiating.  Burial will follow at Union Hill Friends Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
