Betty Sue Worthington Sparks, 73, of Mount Airy, passed away at her home on Monday morning, July 18, 2022.  She was born August 13, 1948, in Wyoming County West Virginia, to the late Willard and Lala Pendleton Worthington.  Mrs. Sparks was a loving homemaker, and a member of Union Hill Friends Church.  She loved going to church, reading, and going to yard sales.  Left to cherish her memory are a daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Stephen Walker; a son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Cheryl Sparks; grandchildren, Tanner Sparks, Grace Williams, Makayla Williams, Chase Sparks, Tyler Walker, Caleb Walker, and Emilee Walker; sisters, Alice Ezekiel, and Linda McCall; a brother, Ray Worthington; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sparks was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lee Sparks; her daughter, Melissa Ella Sparks; a son, Robert Sparks; a granddaughter, Hannah Sparks; a sister, Gladys Custer; brothers, Willard Lee Worthington, Marvin Gene Worthington, and Merle Hampton Worthington.  A service of worship and celebration will be held Sunday, July 24, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Union Hill Friends Church with the Rev. Ernest Brown officiating.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Sparks family.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
