Betty Sue (Bowman) Edwards

Mrs. Betty Sue Bowman Edwards, age 83 of Mount Airy, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Edwards was born on February 24, 1942, in Patrick County, Virginia to the late George Washington and Dorothy Mable Goins Bowman. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving is her daughters and son-in-law, Dawn Edwards Solomon and Johnny, Shannon Edwards and partner Craig Kilvington, Sherry Edwards Draughn and special friend Jeremy Johnson; two grandchildren, Justin Draughn, Taylor Solomon; and two brothers and sister-in-law, Billy Bowman and Brenda, Jimmy Bowman. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Edwards, a granddaughter, Savannah Daie Parker; sister, Annice Ann Bowman Parks; and a brother, Walter James Bowman. A private graveside service will be held at Skyline Memory Gardens with Reverend Richard Loman officiating. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care staff for all the loving care provided to Mrs. Edwards during her illness. Her family would also like to thank her loving caregiver, Shannon, who provided love and supportive care to Betty. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
