Ms. Betty Sue King Leftwich, 74, of Mt. Airy, passed away at her home surrounded by her family, Wednesday, September 28, 2022. She was born in Carroll County, February 16, 1948, to the late Frank and Gladys Jones King. Betty was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She had a sweet smile and a kindness that will never be forgotten. Betty was a talented musician. She started singing at a young age and sang with various people at Oak Ridge Baptist Church where she was a member and other churches throughout the area. She enjoyed playing guitar and singing with her family. Betty drove the school bus for Carroll County School System and worked with Walmart for many years before retiring. Betty lived at the beach for several years and took advantage of every opportunity play golf and relished every time family and friends came to visit. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tracy Leftwich and Malorie; grandchildren and spouses, Brandon Leftwich and Sarah, Cody Leftwich and Sarah, Austin Leftwich and Morgan, Timmy Cagle, Chapen Leftwich, and Sidon Taylor; great-grandchildren, Garrette Leftwich, Noah Cagle, Gage Leftwich, Myla Cagle, Grayson Leftwich, Ian Leftwich, Jacob Leftwich, Avery Leftwich; a sister Connie Cagle; and a brother and sister-in-law, Darrell and Marie King. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a son, Ritchie Leftwich; sisters, Ossie Golding, Dot Tolbert, and Hazel Combs; brothers, Curtis and Otto King, and eight infant siblings. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Sechrist officiating. A private burial will follow at the King Jones Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the special care given to Betty during the course of her illness.
