Betty Faye Tharpe

Mrs. Betty Faye McCann Tharpe, age 83, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2020 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born May 2, 1936, in Wilkes County to the late James Elihu McCann and the late Maude Edna Burcham McCann. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the following siblings and their spouses; sisters: Norma (Vernon) Howard, Doris (Robert) Tharpe and Clara (Ken) Huffman; brothers: JL McCann, Tommy McCann, Henry (Atrice) McCann and her twin Bill (Sybil) McCann. She is survived by her loving husband, Felix Henry Tharpe Sr.; daughters, Cheryl and Kenny Haynes, Teresa and Bruce Simmons; a son, Felix Henry Tharpe Jr.; sisters-in-law: Epsie (JL) McCann, Nora (Tommy) McCann, Bonnie (Bill) McCann; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was a loving wife and mother, a member of Salem Fork Baptist Church and a homemaker.  Visitation will be Thursday January 16, 2020 from 1:00-2:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson. The funeral will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel with Reverend Tim Burton officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery in Roaring River. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.  Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Tharpe family.
